Building or renovating an assisted living environment takes a very different level of care than standard commercial construction. These spaces need to feel warm, safe, and welcoming for residents while also meeting strict healthcare, accessibility, and life safety requirements. At Streamline Construction, we provide assisted living facility construction services throughout Northern California with that balance in mind every step of the way. We design, build, remodel, and upgrade senior care environments that are functional, compliant, and thoughtfully built for the people who live and work in them. From small improvements to large-scale renovations, no project is too big or too small, and we offer free estimates to help facilities begin planning with clarity and confidence.
Built on Decades of Healthcare Construction Experience
Streamline Construction was founded by Jesse McKenna, who brings more than 30 years of dedicated healthcare construction experience to every project. That background matters because senior living construction comes with layers of complexity that generic builders often underestimate. State compliance, infection control, accessibility standards, phased construction, and resident safety all have to be managed carefully from the start.
Since 2002, we have focused on healthcare and senior care environments with a strong emphasis on doing the work correctly, passing inspections efficiently, and protecting the daily life of the facility throughout the project. We are proud to serve assisted living communities, skilled nursing facilities, and healthcare-related properties throughout Northern California with specialized construction expertise.
Assisted Living Construction Is Not Standard Commercial Work
An assisted living or senior care project has to support two very different priorities at the same time. It needs the comfort and familiarity of a home, but it also needs the safety infrastructure and regulatory precision of a healthcare setting. That means every detail matters, from egress routes and corridor widths to shower thresholds, handrails, alarms, electrical systems, and infection-control planning.
Our team understands the distinct requirements involved in:
- Assisted living facility construction
- Senior living construction
- Senior care facility construction
- Retirement home construction
- Elder care facility construction
- Senior housing construction
- Skill nursing facilities renovations
We help clients create spaces that work for residents, caregivers, administrators, and inspectors all at once.
Specialized Construction Services Across Northern California
Because Streamline Construction is experienced in healthcare and senior care construction, we bring a practical understanding of what facilities throughout Northern California need to keep projects moving smoothly. We understand the importance of planning around active resident care, coordinating with facility leadership, meeting healthcare construction expectations, and completing work in a way that supports safety from the first day of construction through final inspection.
For clients, that means working with an assisted living contractor who understands California healthcare construction rules, HCAI requirements, Fire Life Safety expectations, and the real-world demands of building in occupied senior care environments. Whether your project involves a small update, a phased renovation, an expansion, or a larger facility improvement, we bring the organization and experience needed to help the work move forward with fewer disruptions.
Strict Compliance and Regulatory Knowledge
Senior care construction demands absolute attention to code and regulatory compliance. Our team brings deep experience with HCAI, formerly OSHPD, along with Interim Life Safety Measures, OSHA, Fire Life Safety compliance, and ADA-related requirements. These are not side considerations. They are central to how a project must be designed and executed.
We help clients navigate:
- HCAI and OSHPD compliant remodeling
- ADA accessibility conversions
- Fire Life Safety upgrades
- State healthcare structural requirements
- Inspection preparation and coordination
- Local and state permitting processes
- Electrical upgrades and corrections through our Electrical Division
We only use qualified, licensed subcontractors who are familiar with OSHPD, HCAI, life safety measures, codes, and standards. This experience helps reduce costly surprises and gives clients confidence that the project is being managed with the right level of discipline from planning through completion.
Construction With Minimal Disruption to Residents
One of the most important things we bring to senior care projects is our strict commitment to zero-to-minimal disruption. In occupied assisted living and skilled nursing environments, construction cannot come at the expense of resident peace, safety, or daily routine. That is a standard we take very seriously.
We plan our work around your facility’s schedule, paying close attention to mealtimes, resting hours, staff workflows, and resident movement patterns. We use containment systems, dust control measures, and noise mitigation protocols designed for occupied healthcare-related settings. Our goal is to complete the work without turning daily life into chaos for the people who call the facility home.
End-to-End Assisted Living Construction Services
We provide full-service construction support for new, expanding, and existing senior care properties. With healthcare construction experience, an Electrical Division, and access to qualified, licensed subcontractors, our team can help facilities manage a wide range of project needs with careful coordination.
Our services include:
- Ground-up assisted living construction
- Facility expansions and wing additions
- Memory care unit additions
- Dining hall and therapy area expansions
- HCAI and OSHPD compliant remodeling
- ADA accessibility upgrades
- Fire Life Safety corrections and modernization
- Skill nursing facilities renovations
- Electrical upgrades, repairs, and improvements
- Custom in-house cabinetry for nurse stations and resident storage
This gives our clients one experienced partner from planning through completion, rather than having to manage multiple disconnected vendors.
Our Process Keeps Projects Organized and Compliant
We follow a structured framework designed to support both compliance and smooth execution.
Pre-Construction and Phasing Alignment
We begin by mapping architectural plans, life safety measures, electrical needs, and a project phasing strategy built around your facility’s daily operations.
Permitting and Regulatory Coordination
Our team handles local permitting and works directly with state healthcare inspectors to move plans through the approval process before work begins.
Clean-Containment Construction
We establish dust containment, air management, and noise control systems while maintaining a clean and tightly managed site.
Compliance Testing and Final Handover
We coordinate inspections, complete required corrections, and deliver a finished environment ready for licensure and occupancy.
